What I'm Celebrating This Week

– This week has been all about editing. I finished another round of edits on my short Urban Fantasy and now I've shared it with some of my critique partners. I have also started editing a brand new wulfkin legacy novel, so that is super exciting. Today I hit the 1/3 mark on the draft I'm writing.

– For Binding Curse, I am very close to hitting the half-way mark. My new attempt at writing faster is working well so far. I am averaging about 2.5-3K words a day.

– I have two books pushing to be written as they have upcoming deadlines and I'm trying not to panic. This weekend I plan to start digging deeper into their outlines. I've always worked on two projects at once… the challenge will be to see if I can juggle 4!!!

– The scorching heat in Sydney has finally calmed down and we're  having a cold weekend. Yes!!!! I love winter.

– Hubby had to travel today for work, so meant a full day of writing. Because when it's just me I tend not to cook, today's lunch is fish fingers haha

FALLEN ASHES

Last of your kind? Check. Being hunted by everyone? Check. Waking up magically bound to the world's most cocky and annoying assassin? Wait, what?

Survival has always been on the top of Fallen's To Do List as being the last Dragon shifter in Tapestry had painted a target on her long ago. But after being captured and magically tethered to an assassin who could kill her in an instant, time is running out. With the fate of an entire world at stake, Fallen has to find a way to get out alive, with or without her unwanted companion…her incredibly sexy unwanted companion.

Exiled from the Kingdom and on a mission to save his stepfather from the Collector, Saber's life is already a mess. But he never could imagine that he'd be hexed into a mindless shadow assassin or worse, being kidnapped and mystically-bound to a hot blonde vixen that has a crazy obsession with fire. Sexy/strange/fire-chick aside, he has got to find a way to get out of there but Fallen isn't in the least being helpful with their escape plan. Seriously, can things get any worse?

Magically-bound, determined, and both fighting an undeniable attraction, can Saber and Fallen work together to free themselves and save their world by defeating the Collector?  Or will time slip out of their grasp and all will be lost?AddtoGoodreads.jpg

Gretel by Christopher Coleman

Alone. Frightened. Captive. If you hear someone approaching, RUN. She is not there to help you.

There is an ancient evil in the Back Country, dormant for centuries but now hungry and lurking. When it sets its sights on an unsuspecting mother one routine morning along an isolated stretch of highway, a quiet farming family is suddenly thrust into a world of unspeakable terror, and a young girl must learn to be a hero.

Gretel excerpt:
And things took time. There was no patience in this modern world; everyone needed things now. And this System officer, Stenson, he seemed particularly hasty. She could see in the way he leaped for the spilled potion that he’d grown addicted to the idea of it. To the idea of immortality. It was a pattern she’d seen dozens of times in her past. No temperament to handle the wait. And as she’d also witnessed, the pursuit of the broth had caused his early expiration, an irony never lost on her.

But Stenson’s death was unimportant. Nothing more than a mess to clean. Her aims were different now. She’d found the true serum. The one she’d heard whispered of in the Old Lands by her ancestors. The myth sought by all. She could stay young. Forever. She was strong again, of mind and body. And Life. She would reconnect with It. Control It as she once had when she was young and zealous.

She walked back to the kitchen and stood over the twisted body of Officer Stenson, which now lay still, dead. The witch’s feet were planted irreverently in the remaining mixture on the floor, and she almost chuckled at the locked expression of fear and pain on the officer’s face.

She kicked the left side of his body and heard the sound she was listening for—the jingle of keys—in his right pocket. She reached over and pulled the ring of keys free, and then dangled them in front of her face, smiling at the confidence she felt inside of her. It was almost impossible to believe what she was considering—no, not considering, what she was going to do.

The world now seemed a platter to her, a buffet of opportunity and treasure. Every second in this cabin now seemed a waste of the eternal time she now possessed. If even yesterday she’d been granted this opportunity, the opportunity to drive off in this machine, she would have certainly hidden from it, afraid of the technology she’d shunned for so long.

She’d driven a car in the past, in the days before secrecy and privacy had taken over her life, but it had been years, and she’d certainly never controlled anything like the monster parked outside. Yes, her old self would have spent days, weeks maybe, figuring out some method to dispose of the car without ever starting the engine or even getting inside.

But now the machine excited her and the thought of driving released a burst of saliva across her tongue. The energy under her. The power and speed at her control. And, most importantly, the utility of the thing. There were more sources to find before this day ended, and the car would help her find them.
It was time to hunt.

Christopher Coleman lives in Maryland with his wife and two children. He received his degree in English Literature from the University of Maryland and has been writing professionally for over five years.

Marked by Heather Hambel Curley

No name. No memories. No way to escape.

Awake.

She has no memory of how she ended up unconscious in a cellar, dressed only in a corset and petticoats, and with nothing but a candle, a pistol.

And a dead girl.

Her only clues her own identity are the blue lines tattooed beneath her mouth and a word marked in her chest: Healed.  Now she’s on the run, pursued by man and fae alike.  They claim they know what she did, who she is—and what she was.  Her only ally is a man with a bloodstained past.  A man she’s falling in love with.

A man who might be a concoction of her own mind.

Healed doesn’t know who is telling her the truth and who is lying; what is a dream and what she did to be a woman with no name, no past.  Time is running out.  A war is coming.
The oath is broken.

Heather Hambel Curley is a military brat/preacher’s kid—her dad was a chaplain in the US Army—and she spent several years moving between West Virginia, Ohio, and Pennsylvania. Her hometown though, is Pittsburgh, where she has lived since the age of fifteen, went to college, and dragged her husband to live. They currently reside outside of the city with their two sons and a spoiled cat.

She’s an unfiltered fangirl who loves everything from One Direction to Doctor Who to Captain America. She has a growing collection of tattoos, loves to run, and has an unhealthy obsession with all things historical.

Heather writes paranormal fiction with Evernight Publishing and, in 2016, published her debut historical fiction. When not writing or just being Mom, she is a corseted living historian with the Baltimore Light Artillery and has participated in events like Gettysburg, Antietam, Monocacy, and Harpers Ferry.

What I'm Celebrating This Week

A few weeks ago, Georgia C Mathers, an Aussie author contacted me about attending an author event with her in Sydney, and of course, I jumped at the chance. Today we went to Books By The Bridge (Harbor Bridge) and it was incredible! Not only did Georgina and me kick it off right away, but we both write paranormal romance, so that was fantastic. She is so sweet.

We met so many incredibly talented authors. Majority were either contemporary, paranormal, erotica or fantasy authors. I'll definitely be making a note of these events so I don't miss them… and maybe next time I'll get a chance to be one of the authors showcasing my books there 🙂

Screen Shot 2017-02-18 at 8.20.47 pm

– My last few weeks have been very busy. I finished editing a manuscript for a boxed set and that one is sent. This weekend I have two more books to do final read throughs and then they are done. One is going to another boxed set and the other to my editor. The latter is a short Urban Fantasy, which had turned out a lot darker than I first anticipated, but I love it. It will be an introduction to a new Urban Fantasy I plan to start writing later this year.

– Not sure if I mentioned, but I have created author pen name for contemporary romance, and I just received the first lot of edits on that manuscript from my publisher. I'll be jumping into that next week.

– Writing wise, I'm currently working on two book. A brand new Wulfkin book, which I'm so excited about as it introduces a bit of insight into a new Wulfkin series coming soon. I am also plugging along on my Urban Fantasy, Binding Curse… I am very close to hitting half way point on that book. It's a bit of a monster, so I've got to just keep going forward.

Christine Rains introduced me to a new app, 5,000WPH, to  help me write faster… Well I've used it for two weeks now and on Friday I hit 3,000 words in one sitting. Now that might not be a lot for some, but it is for me since before I was doing 1000 a day. Yep.. just tripled my productivity haha

VDaysalebanner1c (1)– Only a few more hours on the Find Your Valentine Book Fair for your chance to get some cool book as well as win a bundle:) Find out more here.

Excerpt:

“Something the matter?”
“Headache. Sorry.”
“You didn’t meet me for coffee. I was afraid you’d changed your mind.” His eyes locked with hers and they stopped moving. Her breath locked in her chest and all she could do was stare at his full and supremely kissable lips.
“I’m sorry. Pack business.”
And something had passed between them in the garden at the school. Something that made her want to explore this attraction, even if it was just to get it out of her system.
They’d made it to the edge of the labyrinth in less time than she thought with no sign of the others. Her wolf rolled beneath her skin, desire for him pooling in her lady bits. The urge for some full on revenge sex to show him what he’d been missing out on sizzled through her, but as he reached out to touch her cheek, she found herself leaning forward.
Her wolf cheered.
“Oh.” He brushed a stray strand of hair from the side of her face. “I thought I’d never see you again. Not that I didn’t deserve that after what I did to you.”
“No,” she blurted out, heat creeping up her cheeks. “I really wanted to see you.” And she had. Memories of their first and only chaste kiss as a teenager had grown into a bittersweet remembrance and she wondered what his lips tasted like now.
“Good.”
She nibbled on her lip, aware of her own body tightening in response to his heated gaze. Her wolf circled beneath her skin, as anxious to test their connection as she was.
“It is?”
Why couldn’t she form a coherent thought other than the dirty ones infiltrating her mind? Her wolf wanted him to throw her to the ground, tear off her jeans and mount him. Right here. Right now. She glanced down to find the hard ridge of his arousal evident against his jeans and she swallowed, her fingers itching to work the zipper and feel him against her palm.
What the hell was wrong with her?
“Mmm hmm.” He leaned forward and brushed his lips against hers. “It is.”
His lips were soft and full and she wanted more. The piney scent of him reminded her of the surrounding woods and for a moment, she let the wolf inside her run free and lifted her face to his as he captured her lips again.

The Dark Ones (Black Werewolves, Book 1) by Gaja J. Kos

In a world ruled by lethal Slavic immortals, Rose and her pack of Black werewolves are drawn into the beginning of a war as they try to uncover the being behind the mass murder of White werewolves.

Because the nature of the killings obstructs the normal passage of souls, Veles, the sultry lord of the underworld, offers Rose his assistance; the were is left facing not only the new knowledge of the pack's hidden lineage but also her growing fondness for the arrogant god…

To win the war, the pack must ascend to The Dark Ones. But to do so, they must be willing to risk being on the receiving end of the immortal community's wrath.

The Dark Ones excerpt:

“Now now, put those away before you hurt yourself,” a magnetic voice washed over Rose as she woke with her claws lethally extended, her teeth already lengthened into sharp fangs. She wasn't bound, however, two pairs of firm, unmoving hands kept her from springing forward.

Rose growled in response, her eyes gradually adjusting to the illuminated environment. The chamber – and it truly was a chamber in the aristocratic sense of the word – was richly decorated, cobalt blue walls lined with deep gold streaks, the same shade that tastefully framed the sizable arched windows embedded alongside the whole length of the wall, flooding the space with sunlight. Judging by the luxurious vintage upholstered furniture, she safely presumed she was standing, or rather was being forced to stand, in the middle of a sitting room.

“Oh,” she exhaled, bottling her anger as she traced the origin of the words to a tall figure leaning back in a gold-dipped futon. “Hello, Veles.”

Although Rose had never met the god in person, he was substantially linked to her bloodline, making it impossible for a descendant of Mokoš to be unaware of his existence – or his decadent reputation. Despite her combative instinct she slowly shifted back into her fully human form, with Veles' olive green eyes observing her intently.

“That's much, much better,” Veles' seductive voice caressed her senses, making Rose even more angered by her indisputable abduction. “Let the hellion go.”

Rose scowled at the cocky god; nonetheless, both pairs of hands released their grip in flawless coordination, allowing Rose to let out a breath she wasn't aware of holding. The figures disappeared through the door before she managed to catch a glimpse of them, leaving her alone with the god.

“Come, take a seat.” Veles tapped on the intimately small vacant spot next to him on the futon, the corners of his lips tugged in a devious smile.

Rose approached him, but confidently sat down on the adjacent sofa, returning the smile. Veles observed her, intrigue flaring in his glimmering green eyes.

“You are willful, aren't you…” It wasn't a question. He shifted upward, flexing his arm across the headrest, displaying his slender, yet muscularly build body clad in tight black leather pants and a black T-shirt that hugged the light swell of his athletic chest. A smug expression formed on his face as he caught Rose's eyes wander over his outstretched body.

Silently, Rose cursed herself for the slight slip-up, and – fighting the blush that wanted to taint her cheeks – forced her gaze to stay on his eyes only. Not that Veles made it any easier for her, since she saw nothing but hunger within the rich olive green color, rimmed with a subtle line of pure black.

Death at First Sight by Angela Roquet

Lia James would give anything to be normal.

Struck with horrific, daily visions of death isn’t what any sane person would consider gifted. Her only consolation is that Sheriff Saunders, her shady keeper, does what he can to change the outcome of her visions—at least, the ones that might lead to a swanky promotion.

Christian Delph is not a normal doctor, and his patients’ maladies are not found in the average medical journal. As the head therapist of Orpheus House in Spero Heights, he sees everything—and usually before it happens. The one thing he didn’t see coming was Lia, and all the ways she would turn his fragile world inside out.

International bestselling author Angela Roquet is a great big weirdo. She collects Danger Girl comic books, owls, skulls, random craft supplies, and all things Joss Whedon. She's a fan of renewable energy, marriage equality, and religious tolerance. As long as whatever you're doing isn't hurting anyone, she's a fan of you, too.

Angela lives in Missouri with her husband and son. She's a member of SFWA and HWA, as well as the Four Horsemen of the Bookocalypse, her epic book critique group, where she's known as Death. When she's not swearing at the keyboard, she enjoys painting, goofing off with her family and friends, and reading books that raise eyebrows.…
